DESCRIPTION: Print is of left manus, tetradactyl, digits increase in length from I-III, digit IV is shorter than digit I, lengths of digits are: I - 24 cm, II - 28 cm, III - 33 cm, and IV - 20 mm, ends of digits are rounded, digits I-III curve towards trackway midline, posterior margin wavy.

REMARKS: Rocek and Rage, 1994 believe that Notopus is not an amphibian trace but an echinoderm trace closer to Asteriacites; van Bakel et al., 2003 propose the name Allophylichnus for the ichnogenus since Notopus shares its name with a genus of extant crab species.
