DESCRIPTION: Short and narrow, sand-lined tubes preserved in full relief and found on bedding planes.Tubes are commonly < 2 cm long and < 5 mm in diameter; usually found as collapsed or crushed and occur in groups.
BEHAVIOR(S): Domichnia (dwelling).
ENVIRONMENTAL SETTINGS: Marine and continental aquatic environments.
POSSIBLE TRACEMAKERS: Worms, arthropods.
GEOLOGIC RANGE: Cambrian–recent

REMARKS: May appear similar to Palaeophycus, and some even regard this trace as that ichnotaxon. In modern freshwater environments these tubes are similar to those produced by midge fly larvae and other members of the Chironomidae.
