Serpulid worm tubes (open nomenclature)
DESCRIPTION: Anastomosed to clusters of precipitated calcium carbonate tubes that form masses of coiled tubes. Surficial morphology with ribs that are perpendicular or parallel to the surface, both of which can occur on the same tube.
BEHAVIOR(S): Domichnia (dwelling)
ENVIRONMENTAL SETTINGS: Shallow to deep marine settings
POSSIBLE TRACEMAKERS: Polychaete worms, e.g., serpulid polychaete worms.
GEOLOGIC RANGE: Permian–recent
