Zonarites Sternberg, 1833


DESCRIPTION: Genus comprises starlike traces, branched feeding burrows with fecal pellets pushed transversely into them (Seilacher, 1955).

BEHAVIOR(S): Several variations in the pattern of tunneling and deposition of fecal material

ENVIRONMENTAL SETTINGS: Deep marine, turbidites

POSSIBLE TRACEMAKERS: polychaete or echiuran worm

GEOLOGIC RANGE: Ordovician-Cretaceous
