Spirorhaphe Fuchs 1895


DESCRIPTION: Two-way spirally coiled threads, turning around in the center and running back between the primary coils, possibly multi-floored (modified after Seilacher 1977a). Several complete coils can be made, up to 2.5 cm in diameter.

BEHAVIOR(S): Agrichna, traps or ‘farming traces’ that concentrate nutrients and bacteria for the trace producer to exploit.

ENVIRONMENTAL SETTINGS: Marine, deep marine flysch deposits, sole of turbiditic sandstones

POSSIBLE TRACEMAKERS: Polychaete worms (Hernandez, J.O., 2009)

GEOLOGIC RANGE: Permian-Tertiary
