DESCRIPTION: Concave epirelief borings in hardgrounds with ovoid to tear-drop shape in planview, with a shallow pocket below the opening. Commonly found in the shells of brachiopods, gastropods, coral, echinoids, and bivalves.

BEHAVIOR(S): Domichnia (dwelling)

ENVIRONMENTAL SETTINGS: Shallow marine hardground settings near areas with reefal structures in higher energy water.

POSSIBLE TRACEMAKERS: Barnacles; borings produced by the holdfasts of barnacles, showing where they lived.

GEOLOGIC RANGE: Cambrian-recent

REMARKS:May be confused with Entobia, small Gastrochaenolites, and other slit-like or pocket-shaped borings.
