Psilonichnus (Fürsich, 1981)


DESCRIPTION: Vertically oriented cylindrical, unlined burrow that normally shows J- Y- or U-shaped structures; lateral branches not necessarily the same diameter as the parent trunks.

BEHAVIOR(S): Dwelling

ENVIRONMENTAL SETTINGS: Marginal marine to terrestrial. Beach, backshore dunes, and lagoonal environments.

POSSIBLE TRACEMAKERS: Crustaceans such as crabs

GEOLOGIC RANGE: Cretaceous-recent
