Estrellichnus Uchman and Wetzel, 2001


DESCRIPTION: Consists of numerous (>50), straight to winding, semicircular, smooth ridges radiating out from a central cone-like mound with tapered top. Ridges are 2 mm wide with lengths of 300˗500 mm. Central mound is ~50mm wide at base, ~25 mm wide near top; cone can reach 20-25 mm in height.

BEHAVIOR(S): Feeding trace

ENVIRONMENTAL SETTINGS: Deep marine turbidites.

POSSIBLE TRACEMAKERS: Echiuran worms, large annelids, or crustaceans.

GEOLOGIC RANGE: Eocene-recent.
