Arthrophycus (Hall, 1852)


DESCRIPTION: Oblique to horizontal, crosscutting burrows parallel or subparallel sided, branching burrows, sometimes with tapering ends. Burrows with transverse annulations along the burrow floor and up the walls; sometimes bilobed longitudinally . Can be found solitary, few burrows, or as bundled clusters.

BEHAVIOR(S): Feeding burrow (fodinichnia)

POSSIBLE TRACEMAKERS: Annelids, arthropods

GEOLOGIC RANGE: Cambrian-Carboniferous

REMARKS: Resembles the architectural pattern of burrows of Phycodes, but with transverse striations or annulations across the floor of each tube or burrow.
